This watercolor and ink on canvas painting was part of my very first experimentation with watercolor on canvas. I did a few fruit paintings inspired by macro photography, and besides just loving the fruit, it was a test to see how much detail I could include on a canvas before the surface texture started interfering with the image. I wanted to also include the shape and color variation that you see within cross-sections of grapefruit. I'm super pleased with the movement in this piece: I think it's just so juicy looking!
